Michael Phelps didn’t race a real shark on Shark Week and the Internet wasn’t happy

The much anticipated Discovery Shark Week is now in full swing. After months of hype about the race between Olympian Michael Phelps and a great white shark, the race aired last night in the United States. Spoiler alert, Phelps did not in fact race a great white shark. Researchers took the average speed of a great white shark and Michael Phelps raced a cgi version of it. Of course for many reasons the race was logistically implausible to begin with, but regardless the Internet was not happy.
