Firmware update adds significant functionality to Sigma fp

Sigma has released a significant firmware update for their fp camera. Version 2.0 adds 12-bit 4K ProRes RAW video recording to an Atomos Ninja V external recorder, 1080/120p RAW video in 8-bit and 10-bit CinemaDNG and support for Dual Base ISO, which can now be set to either 100 or 3200 along with other upgrades and bug fixes.

Panasonic announces firmware update for GH5

Panasonic has announced a firmware update for the GH5 mirrorless camera. The update will be available from the “end of September” and will offer 400Mbps All-I compression options in 4K (200Mbps in 1080), higher resolution 4:3 video capture for shooting with anamorphic lenses and a Hybrid Log Gamma shooting mode. The update will also offer improvements in AF performance and stabilization modes.

GoPro releases firmware updates

GoPro has released two new firmware updates for their HERO4 Black and Silver models. Version 02.00.00 adds a time-lapse video mode; a burst photo capture rate of 30 frames in six seconds; auto rotate mode; and HiLight Tags, which allows a user to mark key moments. HERO4 Black version cameras also get two new frame rates: 720p/240 fps and 2.7K at 60 fps.

GoPro has announced a planned firmware update for its HERO4 Black and Silver cameras. Both will get a built-in timelapse function, 30 photos/6 seconds burst shooting and auto rotate. In addition, the HERO 4 Black will get 720p at 240fps and 2.7K at 60fps. The Silver will get HiLight Tags to mark points during playback.

Imminent update for Canon EOS 5D Mark III

Canon USA announced in October 2012 that they were planning a firmware upgrade for the EOS 5D Mark III at the end of April. The update will give the option of outputting uncompressed video at YCbCr 4:2:2, 8 bit to an external recording device via the camera’s HDMI port. In addition, it will also expand AF via the central cross-type focus points with a maximum aperture of a lens and extender combination to f8.
